PLAYER’S CODE OF CONDUCT
It is expected that the players for the Voorhees Lacrosse Association will conduct themselves like young professionals both on and off the playing field. The Board of Directors and Coaching staff will not tolerate any unsportsmanlike or derogatory conduct or behavior during training, practice sessions, games, tournaments, or any other Club function or event (hereinafter referred to as “Activity”).
As a player for the Voorhees Lacrosse Association, I hereby promise to uphold the following Code of Conduct:
1. I promise to maintain a positive attitude during all Activities.
2. I promise to be punctual and ready for all times that I am required to be present for all Activities. Permission to be absent from training for reasons other than illness or appointment, family emergency, legal obligation, religious observance, or pre-arranged field trip must be obtained from the coach prior to the absence.
3. I promise to be a team player and be an encouragement to my fellow teammates at all times.
4. I promise to follow the directions of my coaches and trainers.
5. I promise to respect my teammates, coaches and trainers. I will accept the authority of my coach when disciplined.
6. I promise to respect and not criticize opposing players, coaches or teams.
7. I promise to respect and not criticize officials.
8. I promise that I will not use foul or degrading language while a player for the club.
9. I promise that I will not engage in any fighting or flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct during any Activity.
Club players shall be subject to the following penalties for not adhering to the above code of conduct:
1. Two unexcused absences from training and or practice sessions will result in disciplinary action at the discretion of the coach.
2. Disrespect to the coach during training and/or practice sessions = sit the remainder of the session.
3. Striking a teammate during training and/or practice sessions = suspension 2 training and/or practice sessions and 1 game (first offense).
4. Disruptive behavior during training and/or practice sessions = sit the remainder of the session.
5. Dissent (disrespect) towards the referee or assistant referees = substituted immediately.
6. Retaliation(minor offense) = substituted immediately.
7. Retaliation(major offense) = ejected from game and possible action from SJ Lacrosse
8. Disrespect to home or Opposing coaching staff = immediate substitution / playing time reduced.
9. Spitting at the opposition = sit out the remainder of the game, plus 2 additional game suspension and possible action from SJ Lacrosse
10. Unsportsmanlike conduct on or off the field = Up to one game suspension, depending on the severity of the infraction for the first offense.
11. Parent carded or Coach / Liaison carded as a result of Parent behavior, Player suspended for one game, Parent fined $25 and parent responsible for fines levied on Club.
12. Off the field activities: The Board of Directors in consultation with the liaison, Coach and the Technical Director will decide on the action to be taken depending on the seriousness of the incident.
Deviation from aforementioned penalties may occur if coach deems appropriate and he/she gets approval from the responsible Executive Director and the Director of Coaching.
